The State Administration Court of Ankara, Turkey, issued a ruling
that lift the ban on Twitter last Wednesday.
The ban was issued earlier
on March 20 after Twitter spread allegations regarding evidence of Prime
Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s corruption scandal.
The court considers the ban as limiting the freedom of expression.
The ruling was set after The Attorney Association of Turkey filed an
injunction towards the government’s attempt to ban Twitter.
Turkish local TV station stated that access to Twitter will be restored today. However, Reuters
news Agency reported that Turkey still has 30 days to comply or file an
appeal against the decision. Other sources said that the court only
issued a temporary ruling, meaning that access may not be permanent
until the ban is revoked entirely.
Twitter also filed a lawsuit to the Turkish court with hopes that the
ban will be revoked completely. Twitter stated that there legal basis
to ban our services in Turkey.
