Tourism prospect of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Bali as corridor V in the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) since 2011 has grown rapidly.

"Bali, NTB, and NTT become corridor V development as tourism gateway," said Mari Elka Pangestu, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, yesterday.

In the last two years or after NTB has been determined as MP3EI corridor V region, the number of foreign and domestic tourists visiting this province has increased sharply, said Minister Mari. "From 887,000 tourists in 2011 to 1.2 million in 2013."

The three provinces have world-class tourism appeal and are included in the national strategic tourism plans (KSPN).

In 2025, there are 16 KSPN that will become priorities. Six of which are located in corridor V which include Kintamani, Lake Batur (Bali), Menjangan, Pemuteran (Bali), Kuta, Sanur, Nusa Dua (Bali), Rinjani (NTB), Comodo Island (NTT) and Ende-Kelimute (NTT).

There are also Mendelika at the south coast of Lombok, which is currently in a process of becoming Special Economic Zone of Tourism, some new tourism areas in Kupang, and Lombok and Bali, which have been established as investment areas (DPI).

Minister Mari said the sea, air and land transportation will be built. "Ports like Tanjung Benoa must be completed this year. The depth is being analyzed. This is a cooperation between the Public Works Ministry and the regional government," said the minister.

In the future, corridor VI which includes Papua, Maluku Islands, Ambon, Sorong, Timika and Jayapura will also be improved. "We shoudn't just pay attention to corridor V," said Minister Mari.
