Jakarta - Palembang is mostly well known for its delicious fishcake Empek Empek
but there is another dish that is worth trying when you are travelling
to the capital city of South Sumatra.
The dish is called Martabak HAR, owned by Hajj Abdul Rozak, an Indian descent from which the dish got its name.
Martabak is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread which
becomes a popular street food in Indonesia and other countries in South
East Asia. What is unique from Martabak HAR in Palembang is that the martabak is served with curry-like broth made of potatoes, water and spices, resulting in a savory and tasty dish.
There are currently many Martabak HAR stalls in
Palembang but only the ones in Simpang Sekip and nearby the Great Mosque
on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, Palembang, are managed by its original
founder. Martabak HAR has been serving their special martabak since it was first opened in 1947 and has become a popular and a must-try among the locals.
To enjoy the Martabak HAR, you only need to pay Rp15,000 for martabak with chicken egg and Rp17,000 for martabak with duck egg.
