Jakarta – Chairman
of nightclub businessmen association Adrian Maulite said the return of
nightclubs during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan would likely plummet
by 50 percent.
“The return must be dropping because of the consequences of people abiding by the rules and appreciating Muslims,” he told Tempo on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Adrian said nightclub operators did not plan any strategy to deal
with the possible lower return, adding that they had already braced for
it long ahead of the Ramadan month.
According to the Jakarta administration’s regulation No.
10 Year 2004
on tourism, he continued, all entertainment venues excluding
starred-hotels such as karaoke parlors, discotheques, bars, and massage
parlors would be barred from operations during the Ramadan month.
He added that entertainment venues inside starred hotels, meanwhile,
would be allowed to operate only from 9.00 p.m-01.00 a.m, or from after tarawih (extra prayer service during Ramadan) to before sahur (pre-dawn meals before fasting). “They must be closed off those hours,” he said.
