Barcelona took a painful blow after being held draw by Atletico
Madrid 1-1 in the La Liga 2013/2014 final at Camp Nou last night. The
draw result was enough for Atletico Madrid to triumphantly claim their
10th Spanish crown.
Barca had a chance to lead the game when Alexis Sanchez’s stunning
strike scored one goal at the 33rd. But it looked like Atletico was too
determined to win their first trophy after 18 years as Diego Godin
head-shot shook the net of The Catalans four minutes into the
second-half to balance the position.
Barca’s Lionel Messi and Daniel Alves attempted shots at the 64th and
82th but the Brazilian goalkeeper Courtois had successfully blocked
both threats. Barca, however, kept on locking Atletico’s defense but
still unable to score more goals until the final whistle was blown.
Atletico has collected 90 points in total, three points ahead of Barcelona at the second place.
