Indonesian Artists Participate in Roppongi Art Festival

Four Indonesian visual artists participates in the Roppongi Art Night 2014 in Tokyo,  Japan, for the first time. 

Saleh Husein, Henry Irawan, Kemal Reza Gibran and Mateus Bondan submit their work, which are curated by Ade Darmawan to the art festival that will be held on April 19 to April 20.

Adopting the Roppongi theme this year, "Move Your Body", the four artists create a performance that encourages the audience to move their body.

Henry, a member of the Goodnight Electric music group, who is also known as Batman, makes a collage measuring 300 x 200 centimeters, consisting of icons commonly known by the community, such as the Mona Lisa and Rolling Stones. He will ask people to rearrange the pictures in the collage to create a new picture.

"It will be messy and colourful.  Viewed from a distance, it might looks like an abstract [painting]," he said.

Meanwhile, Gibran creates a two dimensional lenticular trilogy about a bicycle, his favorite transportation.  He wants to tell a story about riding a bicycle in the capital city.
Saleh Husein creates a mural called "Human Instrument", which tells a story about transportations in Jakarta.

Roppongi Art Night is an art festival that is held in the streets of Roppongi. A festival scattered in the district of Roppongi, centered in a museum, art institute up to a shopping center.
