Despite having seized the international limelight, Indonesian action-packed movie The Raid: Berandal has been barred from Malaysian theatre screens.
The movie, featuring a string of Indonesian A-list actors, is
scheduled to premiere in several other countries, including Thailand,
Belgium, Ireland, England, Canada, and the Netherlands.
Johann Affendy, an Indonesian national residing in Malaysia, has
complained about the disappointing news to director Gareth Evans. The
Welsh director has also expressed his sympathy, saying "I feel sorry
about that."
The Malaysian authority has yet to issue any official statement
concerning the ban. The movie, starred by Iko Uwais, has lured a number
of reviews following its domestic debut last weekend.
