Esthy Reko Astuti, Director General of Marketing at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, said that Indonesia has set a target of 9.5 million foreign tourists in 2014.

The statement was announced yesterday during the opening of Indonesia Pavilion at one of the largest tourism trade fair in the World, the Internationale Torismus Borse, in Berlin, Germany.

Last year, the number of foreign tourists in Indonesia between January and November 2013 was 7.94 million, 9.12 percent higher compared to 2012.Esthy added that the number of domestic tourists also increased to 250 million. The number was forecasted to rise at 400 million in 2025. In the same year, the number of foreign tourists is expected to reach 20 million.

"The growth is feasible based on the average rate of national tourism growth," Esthy said.
Indonesia's participation at the International tourism trade fair in Berlin on March 5 to March 8, 2014, is one of the government efforts to boost the number of foreign tourists.

At the fair, Indonesia sent delegations led by tourism and creative economy deputy minister Sapta Nirwandar.

10,000 companies and business organizations from 180 countries attended the annual international tourism trade fair, which has been held since 1955.

They filled 26 exhibition halls and offered various tourism products, such as airlines, cruise ships, hotels, mice packages (meeting, incentive, convetion, and exhibition), and culinary products.
