Among numerous smart watches made by global manufacturers, a local-made smart watch called SpeedUp Smartwatch is on their way to attract more consumers.
The Speed Up Smartwatch was first introduced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.
SpeedUp was initially known as Indonesian manufacturer of tablets, smartphones, and modems. In the past one week, Tempo had the chance to test the SpeedUp SmartWatch and would like to share the experience with you here.
Appearance
At a glance, the watch looks like sports or children’s watch than a smart watch. The screen was minimalist with square shape and rubber straps. The rubber straps were able to absorb sweat and thus is comfortable for a long-term usage.
The 1.54-inch screen was provided with IP57 or waterproof technology.
Under the hood
The watch was provided with MIPS 1 gigahertz processor which is claimed to be able to reduce the power consumption and accelerate the device’s performance. The RAM was 512 megabytes with internal memory of 4 gigabyte. However, Tempo found that the device’s response was not very smooth.
Android 4.4 or KitKat has been incorporated to run the device and is connectable to other operation system platform such as iOS 7 and newer.
"The watch is able to standby up to two days," said SpeedUp Marketing Director, Rahmad Widjaja Sakti. And Tempo has proved the ability of the 300mAh battery.
The battery power in a stand-by mode is more than Galaxy Gear Fit, which is 210 mAh.
Other Features
The watch comes with other smartwatch-typical features such as Bluetooth, USB slots, messaging notification, connection to social media, and even feature to measure your physical activities.
There are 14 different themes available for the front face of the time display on the screen. Unfortunately, there is no special user interface that could make the watch stand out from other brands.
SpeedUp Smartwatch is offered at Rp1.499 million which is relatively affordable compared to Galaxy Gear which is priced at Rp2 million.
