Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil, expressed his concern over large
number of tourist from Jakarta to the Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi"
Widodo. Ridwan, or famously known as Emil, said that Bandung residents
often express their frustration to him whenever a long holiday comes.
Emil explained about the six million tourists that came mostly from
Jakarta, visited Bandung on a monthly basis. Emil asked Jokowi to change
Jakarta people's traveling habit. He wants the tourist to visit Bandung
by train, instead of by private cars.
According to Emil, Bandung administration has mulled a program to
procure a double-decker tour bus called Bandros, which will be
operational in ten days. Emil said 30 units of Bandros are still in
manufacturing process and will be operational to pick up tourists from
train stations. "Bandros is for tourists from Jakarta," Emil said.
To get on a Bandros, tourists need to show a purchase receipt of Bandung products.
The red-painted bus features internet connection and beverage vending
machine. In addition, music will be played along the trip. Bandros is
designed to be convertible because Bandung's climate is rather cool.
