Van Persie Saves United

Written By Unknown on Thursday 20 March 2014 | 06:26

Robin van Persie saved Manchester United as he scored three goals against Olympiakos in Old Trafford to help his club proceed to the Champions League quarterfinal.

The Red Devils, playing before their die-hard fans, began the game in rapid pace.

It was Robin Van Persie that began sparking hope when he scored his first goal 24 minutes into the game from a penalty kick.

As the first half nearly came to an end, Van Persie equalized the aggregate with a decent assist from fellow striker Wayne Rooney.

The Dutchman never ceased to amaze when he scored his second goal early in the second half.

Alongside Van Persie's brilliant performance, goalkeeper David De Gea received much praises as he booked five saves. De Gea's solid performance kept Olympiakos from scoring and secured the Devil's 3-0 scoreline.

The victory also put Manchester as the second English Premier League club to secure a spot in the top-8, following Chelsea that secured another place earlier on Tuesday.
