London - Nicolas Anelka's 'quenelle'
celebration has caused a bit of a stir in his current club the West
Bromwich Albion (WBA).
Anelka's display of the celebration during a
match against West Ham United last December, is often linked to an
anti-semitism gesture.
Zoopla, property giant and the club's major sponsor, recently decided
to terminate its contract because of WBA's negative image following the
Anelka's gesture. Anelka himself is yet to comment on the rumor, while
WBA management confirmed that Zoopla's contract ends this season.
Anelka, in his clarification, mentioned that his celebration had
nothing to do with anti-semitism movement. He tweeted, addressing his
celebration, that the gesture was dedicated to his comedian friend
Dieudonne (M'Bala M'Bala).
