Flickr photo sharing site owned by Yahoo, has changed the image removal policy on its Web site. This policy change comes after the case that Obama's image 'make-up' to be Joker.
A 20-year-old student named Firas Alkhateeb from Chicago was the 'play' against major changes made this Flickr. It all started when he was uploading photos from the cover of Time Obama in 2006, to the site some time ago, after he had at manipulate in Photoshop.
Because the claims have been violated copyright, Flickr got a warning from the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) in order to reduce the image.
Flickr and then immediately remove the picture. Not only photographs, but the entire page, which means removing the metadata such as date of posting, tags and user comments.
Infringement of copyright (copyright) is reportedly not come from Time magazine, DC Comic, or the original photographer. But coming from a freelance photographer named Edward Przydzial which can only prove his claim through LiveJournal dated October 9.
Regarding the removal of image, before Flickr repeal policies that if there were complaints about copyright infringement, but if the complaint does not prove the Flickr members who were allowed to upload pictures to upload again.
Now, after the case of Obama-Joker, Flickr decided to revoke an existing photo with a message saying "This image has been removed due to a claim of copyright infringement". In fact, the background of the claimed violations Przydzial was actually still questionable.
"You can only love or hate the DMCA. It's not perfect, but it is part of the process down from the government," said Heather Champ, director of community Flickr.
Outside the Alkhateeb Firas's picture that has been deleted, similar photos featuring Joker Obama socialism plus an additional word is still widely circulated on the Flickr Uploader, Uploader different. (LATimes / Seconds)
